Hillel at Ben Gurion University provides a supportive atmosphere for students to stop by and share their Jewish story. Core programs include some of the following:
| | | Darfur Refugee Volunteer Work: Over the past year, hundreds of Sudanese refugees have fled Darfur seeking refuge in Israel, but there is no government authority here taking responsibility for them. BGU Hillel has been at the forefront of Darfur refugee volunteer work, focusing on public awareness of the refugee crisis and working to establish a formal group for relief work. |
| | | Kehillat Tzedek is a program in which students meet weekly to study issues of personal identity and relationships with others. This year the program will include a community service segment to deepen the tzedek experience, making it meaningful to others in the community as well. |
| | | KAMA: Kidum Ma'amad Ha'Isha (Advancing the Status of Women in Society) is a set of workshops that brings forty students together with leading Israeli women professors and professionals to discuss ways to improve the status of women in Israel. |
| | | Mekor Yetzirah is a series of workshops in creative writing, theater, and piyut. Students study Jewish sources related to the the arts and creativity, and apply these lessons in their own work. |
| | | Gesher Chai (Living Bridge) brings together eleven BGU Hillel students with eleven of their peers from Montreal, to discuss Jewish identity issues, both personal and collective, through videoconferences, Internet chats, and with student delegations visiting each sister city and campus. |
Hillel at Ben Gurion University encourages students to submit their own ideas for new programs as a way of taking ownership of their Jewish identity.
The Hillel center is centrally located on the Ben-Gurion University campus. Come visit!
